Team Spotlight - Orcs

Orcs were my very first Blood Bowl team and are one of the strongest teams to play. Orcs make for an ideal  choice as a beginner as they can be very forgiving given their strength and high armor value. It is no secret that Orcs like to smash stuff in the face, and they certainly have the options to do so whether it be 1 of the 4 Black Orc Blockers you can field, a lone Troll smashing through the oppositions front line or a Blitzer charging the ball carrier to push him into a riot-some blood hungry crowd. Orcs are a hard hitting and resilient team and you need to make the most of that to be successful. On a side note, if smashing through the line and running the ball isn't your thing (of course its your thing you're an Orc) then Orcs are also able to take between 0-4 Goblins and 0-1 Trolls to eat throw them around it pitch.

That is Orcs in brief, and this is just the start of what will be a thorough insight into the Orc team. Over the next couple of weeks this blog will take a look at Orc player profiles (linemen blitzers, goblins etc) and document my progress as i work my way through painting up a full team. A painting tutorial will also be provided to help get your team painted up to a good standard and ready to crack some skulls.

The Game that Started it all..

The game Blood Bowl is a game that first introduced me to the miniatures hobby. I loved the concept of it, the cross between American football and fantasy. It has always been a constant throughout my time in the hobby. It led me to play games such as Warhammer Fantasy, 40k, then eventually other games such as Dark Age, Warmachine and Malifaux etc. Blood Bowl is a game that i have always fallen back on. Whenever i felt burnt out from the hobby, tired of painting 5000 point armies or just not had the enough time, there would always be Blood Bowl.

Blood Bowl is all about fun, which is what all games should be about. While i do enjoy the epic large scale battles, sometimes painting up such a large force can become extremely monotonous. Sometimes taking a step back from all that and painting up a Blood Bowl team to have a few games with can be extremely rewarding and often inspire you to push on with some larger projects.

With all that being said, i just love the game, so for me it makes sense that my first proper blog should be about the game that started it all. The idea is that i will be looking at the various different teams available, some brief tactics and painting tutorials etc. The core of this blog will be based around painting and will document my progress as i aim to paint up one of every team.

The first team up will be Orcs, and i will be working my way through all the current Blood Bowl teams. Thats all for now. Thanks for reading.
